The Living Room
Step back in time into the pretty living room, with a fire blazing in the old Tweed range and afternoon tea and cake laid ready for you. The original ceiling hooks and a timeless airer hang from exposed beams, and garden flowers decorate the room. To ensure there are modern comforts, the cottage has central heating (from an eco-friendly heating system), a television, DVD player, CD/radio player and Wi-fi access.
Bedrooms
Newt Cottage has two sunny bedrooms overlooking the large country garden. A fairy-tale four poster double bed in the rose pink bedroom adds to the enchantment of the cottage, and in the forget-me-not blue small bedroom there is a cosy and traditional single bed. All our beds are dressed with plump, sumptuous feather duvets and special organic bed linen. Bespoke natural pine furniture compliments the stripped Victorian doors and wide pine floor boards and hand-crafted needlework decorates the walls.
Kitchen
The lovely pine kitchen has a double ceramic sink reminiscent of the farm worker’s original Belfast sink. There’s a plate rack above the beech worktop and a pan hanger and candelabra above the dining table. Two small windows overlook the farmyard so you can watch a cockerel strutting from the hen house or a farm cat enjoying the sunshine as you potter in the kitchen.
In such beautiful surroundings, caring for our environment is at the heart of the Hunting Hall ethos, so the cottage is designed to help you have a wonderful visit with the lightest of environmental footprints. There are energy efficient appliances; dishwasher, built in hob and oven, fridge-freezer, washer-drier and microwave. Careful thought went in to materials used in the renovation and all paints and decorating products are eco friendly; gentle to both you and the environment. We hope you will join us in being green and recycle your waste, or even make a carbon offset so that we can plant a tree to offset your travel carbon emissions.
Bathroom
In the bathroom you will find gentle Faith in Nature soaps and shampoos for your use and there are luxurious organic cotton towels available for hire. There is a shower above the bath to help you save water and a dual flush toilet.
Garden
Newt Cottage overlooks its own glorious country garden. Here is a peaceful, sunny oasis full of colour and the counterpoint of birdsong. A small wicket gate leads to the organic meadow beyond, where sheep graze and willows grow along the banks of a small stream. Step out of your door and explore!
