A simply perfect place to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary and to unwind after a busy few months. Thank you, Karen and Tom, for sharing your beautiful shepherd’s hut with us. It was everything (and more) that we imagined – so cosy and cleverly designed, built and equipped with so much love! Couldn’t get enough of the views from the windows – curtains have been left open throughout our stay! And such a comfy bed! Loved the farm trail and your emphasis on biodiversity – I need to come back to see the wildflower areas! We have loved our first Northumbrian experience, a twitcher’s paradise – we will be back! We’ve had a wonderful time here in the shepherd’s hut – Karen and Tom have been incredibly welcoming and helpful at every step! So many useful maps, guides, suggestions – and a beautiful vase of hand-picked flowers and a delicious vegan tray bake on arrival were a lovely touch.
It’s brilliant that Karen and Tom are doing so much great wildlife conservation work on the farm – it’s really nice to stay somewhere that’s conscious about its environmental footprint – and all the meadows, flowers and trees make the farm all the nicer anyway! I have had a wonderful stay in your beautiful hut. It’s very cosy and feels like a slice of home. Our visit coincided with the archaeological dig in the grounds. Very interesting and very inspiring for us to see and experience the scope of this farm in terms of community, sustainable methods and sheer brilliance in hospitality and welcome of visitors. What a special place this is. We enjoyed the combination of how close it was to things we wanted to visit and how lovely a place it is here, so we could take a walk around the farm and see all the beauty. The cabin itself is cosy and homely; it brought us a lot of joy spending our evenings here relaxing after a long day. The extra touches such as the phenomenally good cake on our arrival, with the beautiful flowers whose smell greeted us home each day, made the place more than a place to leave our things, but rather somewhere we looked forward to spending time in.

We loved our stay, perfect retreat for a 30+ week pregnant woman! So cosy with the fires lit and fantastic amenities for such a compact space.
